Why Some MSP Owners Choose Not to Sell at $7M

Many peer groups, industry experts, and advisors share the belief that the “ideal” time to sell an MSP is around $7M. And for certain owners, that’s true. Selling can absolutely be the right path.

But for others, something doesn’t feel complete.

They still have vision left.

They still have momentum.

They still have purpose.

They still have passion for their team and their clients.

Selling early is the right choice for many—but not for everyone.

This is where some MSP owners quietly struggle.

They respect the guidance they’ve been given. They appreciate the system that got them to this point. But deep down, they believe they can build something larger.

And the truth is—they can.

We’ve seen owners hit $7M and feel torn:

“The system I was taught only goes this far… but I’m not done yet, I know I am capable of more.”

There’s no conflict here. Both can be true:

• The system that got you here was right

• And now you need a different system to go further

This is not about replacing what worked—it’s about evolving it.

There is absolutely a path to $10M, $15M, and $20M+. It simply requires new structure, financial clarity, operational maturity, and a new sales engine.

That’s why we created E3: to support the owners who don’t want to sell at $7M, and who want to scale into the next stage instead.
