Every MSP grows through similar phases—but the industry rarely talks about how the support you need changes at each stage.


Here are the stages:


1. Under $1M — Early Foundation 

2. $1–3M — Building Structure 

3. $3–6/7M — Stabilizing & Professionalizing 

4. $7–12M — Scaling Systems 

5. $12–20M — Building Leadership Layers 

6. $20M+ — Enterprise Transformation 


Each stage requires different:


• financial skills 

• operational systems 

• hiring strategies 

• sales methods 

• leadership capabilities 


And therefore, each stage requires a different level of Sales, Operation and Finance. The Essential 3 areas of the business. The peer group should reflect the needs of the company in the stage it is in.
